Soft landing.
Welcome, here are some essential guidelines:
Connect to the airport's wifi to enable your mobile phone to operate.
If you have a calling or browsing package from Israel - activate it now, don't forget to go into settings and turn on the "Data roaming" button.
If you want to purchase a local SIM, it's best to do it in the city. It's much cheaper there than at the airport.
Beyond the random checks, the amount of money allowed to be brought into the country is approximately $10,000 or the equivalent in another currency. Please note! There is no prohibition on bringing in a higher amount, but this requires a declaration and reporting. (The authorities are strict and fines are expected for those who break the law).
Recently, the state authorities have been tightening the importation of medications (including pills sold without a prescription), whether they are in bulk or in their original packaging. (More details on this matter on the "Tips" page).
As a reminder, as of January 1, 2026, it is mandatory to have valid health insurance for the entire period of stay (minimum coverage of 30,000 GEL). Customs inspectors may ask to see the policy (printed or digital in English/Georgian) upon landing in Batumi.
If you don't have local money, you can exchange it at the airport - no more than $100. The exchange rate at the airport is high, so it's better to do it at the exchange booths in the city or at the hotel.
You've picked up your suitcase and are on your way out - at a good time. You can take a local taxi, they are right at the exit. It's important to agree on a price in Lari in advance.
If you have a little patience (and internet) download the Bolt or Yango app, taxis in Batumi are very cheap. The thing is that taxi drivers from the apps don't enter the nearest terminal, so you can meet them in the nearby parking lot, or on the road.
If you arrive at the hotel during reception hours, you're in luck. If not, simply leave your suitcase in the lobby and go for a walk - every minute is a waste.
The most recommended means of transportation in Batumi is a taxi; everything else is slow and less convenient.
